200g Mesh-Type Raw Silk Natural Mulberry Silk Thread - For Ronghua, Wigs

This is natural Mesh-Type Raw Silk Filament, factory dyed, requires separating the strands before combing when making Ronghua.

Each bundle weighs 200g (with a possible slight error).

Raw silk is undegummed mulberry silk thread, while processed silk is mulberry silk that has been degummed. Raw silk is stiffer, it's suitable for making Ronghua, velvet ball, velvet birds,it can also be used to make doll wigs.

Raw Silk(also known as raw silk long filament) can be used to make Velvet Ball style Ronghua(velvet flowers), pompons, velvet birds, as well as for embroidery. When used in embroidery, it feels slightly stiffer than boiled silk.

Raw Silk is categorized into three types:

1.  Mesh-Type Raw Silk Filament:

• When opened, the filaments form a mesh structure with connection points, making it difficult to separate individual strands.
• Requires separating the strands before combing when making Ronghua(velvet flowers).
• Not suitable for embroidery, as it is difficult to draw out individual threads.
• Slightly lower in luster and smoothness.
• Generally not used for embroidery.

2.  Untwisted, Non-Mesh Raw Silk Filament:

• Does not require mesh separation.
• Can be directly combed for Ronghua making after cutting.
• Can be directly threaded/drawn for embroidery.
• Higher luster and smoothness.

3.  Slightly-Twisted Raw Silk Filament:

• Can only be used for making Ronghua and wigs; not suitable for embroidery.
• Multiple raw silk filaments are combined into a single, thicker strand for easier handling, dispensing, and better control over the quantity used.

Additional Application Notes:

   For wig making:

• Slightly-Twisted and Mesh-Type filaments produce a fuller, more voluminous effect.
• Untwisted, Non-Mesh filament is smoother, less prone to tangling, and easier to maintain.
